The wonderful combination of imported and domestic lentils, barley, orange and green lentils, along with our savory spice pack create a delicious family soup all generations will enjoy. Can be prepared with or without meat for vegetarian diets. Contains no salt, no sugar and no preservatives. Each Savory Soup Sack comes with easy to follow cooking instructions, nutrition facts and savory soup mix spice pack. Gentle Lentil Soup Mix Instructions Add the following: 1 ham steak or ham bone or 2 smoked ham hocks (Optional) 2 fresh carrots, chopped 2 stalks fresh celery, chopped 1 small to medium onion, chopped 1 medium potato, cubed 2 to 3 Tablespoons white vinegar (optional) 2 Tablespoons olive oil Remove Savory Spice Pack, and set aside. Rinse and check lentils carefully, drain and place into soup kettle. Add 8 cups cold water, ham bone or hocks, chopped vegetables and olive oil. Boil 10 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer 1-1/4 hours or till lentils are gentle. Remove bone, cut off meat and return to kettle. Add entire contents of Savory Spice Pack to kettle and simmer 15 minutes. Remove bay leaf before serving. Add the (optional) 2 to 3 Tablespoons white vinegar. Add salt and pepper to taste, if required.
