Each Savory Soup Sack comes with easy to follow cooking instructions, nutrition facts and savory soup mix spice pack. Country Bean Soup Instructions Add: 1 Ham bone or 2 smoked ham hocks 1 28 oz. can tomatoes 2 Stalks celery, chopped 1 Large onion, chopped 1 Clove garlic, minced 1 Red or green pepper, chopped 1 Tablespoon lemon juice Check and rinse beans. Put into large pot and add 10 cups water. Bring to boil 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover, let stand 1 hour (OR, add water to rinsed beans and soak overnight). DRAIN. Add 10 cups water, and the ham bone or hocks. Bring to a rapid boil, reduce heat and simmer partially covered 3 hours or until beans are soft. Remove bone, carefully cut off meat and return to kettle. Add the tomatoes, vegetables, lemon juice, and garlic. Salt and pepper to taste. Simmer till vegetables are tender. The longer the soup cooks the thicker it becomes and like most of us, improves with age. Salt and pepper to taste.
